Memorial service will be held Thursday, March 3, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with Reverend Todd Guinn officiating with military rites by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79, the First United Methodist Church and also served as a youth leader, and coached youth sports.ĭavid is survived by his wife, Teri of the home sons, Wes Higgs and wife Angie of Cheney, Kansas, and Will Higgs and wife Angela of Bixby, Oklahoma sisters, Darla Lee Wyeno of Denver, Colorado, Lou Ann Summers and husband Merle of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Tracie Lamberson and husband Garry of Kennewick, Washington sister-in-law, Sue Higgs of Ulysses brother-in-law, Mark Tully of Pagosa Springs, Colorado brother-in-law, Tim Lewis and wife Jan of Ralls, Texas sister-in-law, Allison Carpenter of Norman, Oklahoma five grandchildren, Ryeder, Braden, Jared, Dayton, and Aaron and numerous nieces and nephews.ĭavid is preceded in death by his parents brothers, Curt Higgs and Carl Higgs sister, Janice Tully niece, Shelly Dawn Higgs nephew, Shane Peikert mother-in-law, Joan Lewis father-in-law, Ed Lewis brother-in-law’s, Rusty Carpenter and Harry Wyeno. He served on the Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital Board, USD 214 School Board, was a member of the Dexter D. He was very proud to support his grandchildren in everything they did and regularly attended every event they participated in. He will be remembered for raising good roping horses. David raised cattle, and enjoyed team roping. He married Teri Lewis on May 10, 1969, at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses. After an honorable discharge, David returned to Grant County to farm. He graduated from Grant County Rural High School, then attended Oklahoma State University for three years before being drafted by the United States Army. He was born October 14, 1946, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, the son of Willard Carl and Frances Lou Anna (Coats) Higgs.ĭavid grew up in Colorado and moved to Ulysses in 1956.
